• The Best of Andrea on AOL On

    Fotor060890812

Entertainment news is hard work. Seriously. It’s very glamorous and the stories are very light and fluffy, but it is more than meets the eye. The call time is 4:30am. Yes, 4:30 in the freaking morning! We have to find and write seven stories, find and download pictures to accompany the stories, and then write the headline, description and tags for the video. When that’s all done, we finally get into the studio to shoot it. I am not complaining, though. It makes me feel like my super expensive Journalism degree from NYU was totally worth it.

This week I hosted the music section for REV New Media’s Stereotude brand, which is heavily featured on AOL On, Huffington Post and Yahoo!

These are my favorite stories from the week:

I broke the Paris Jackson suicide attempt story for AOL On:

Details on Lea Michele’s new album got 50,000 hits in just one day on AOL!

    ;

While this Justin Bieber v. Paparazzo story did well on the YouTube side.

This story warms my Midwestern heart that still believes Cinderella was based on a true story. Where can I find a guy like that? And the answer is definitely NOT Hollywood. And I really dig my Brigitte Bardot look:

  • Andrea’s Appearance in the Avicii Documentary

    Fotor060313397

Avicii is one of the hottest DJ’s in the EDM scene and it is truly an honor to be featured in his new documentary! What’s even cooler is that I have yet to actually interview him. Apparently, my commentary of him walking by me was so riveting that it made it into the film. Not bad!

The documentary is right now only available in Sweden, and there is no way I would have known about it unless a friend in Stockholm messaged me about my appearance. Cue a few posts on Facebook and Twitter asking for the link, and voila, here it is! Click this link to view the documentary. Catch me around the 12:50 mark covering Avicii’s historic set at the ULTRA Music Festival in Miami in 2012:

Next time, I just have to talk to him. Baby steps.

  • Cowboys v. Hot Sauce

Fotor0523120922Professional Bull Rider Brendon Clark and I after the Clash of the Cowboys Hot Sauce Challenge.

It’s summer! That means the weather is getting hot hot hot, which is exactly why we ended our Clash of the Cowboys Part 1 with the Hot Sauce Challenge. (Note: For those unfamiliar with the PBR circuit, the Built Ford Tough Series takes a summer break in May and returns in August. Clash of the Cowboys will also return then.) The challenge for our Cowboys was simple enough: hold on to the hot sauce for dear life in the back of our Ford F-150 as a member of the opposing team drives them through a crazy, off-road course. All I can say is thank goodness I did not have to clean up that mess! The inside of the car was poisonous to the nostrils and vomit-inducing to the eyeballs. Sorry, I hope you weren’t just enjoying a lovely meal.

As an unintentional off-roader myself – i.e. my SUV meant to go over that curb, thank you very much! – I truly appreciated this challenge. I also gave mad props to Bull Rider Brendon Clark who – SPOILER ALERT – actually pounded a shot of that nasty stuff in the end. Well, kind of. These guys are the toughest men I’ve ever met, and their stomachs aren’t so shabby either to be handling that.

Here are the clips that aired on CBS Sports during the PBR Built Ford Tough Series:

  • We Are Live Again from Miami for ULTRA 15!!

    Fotor052810426

Our motto this year was “Let’s Make History Together” – and we have already done that from Weekend 1!

During Hardwell’s set, who will become the #1 DJ if you believe the buzz in the Twitterverse, nearly 100,000 concurrent viewers tuned in worldwide AND broke his twitter! Wow! Hardwell told me afterwards that he received a message from Twitter saying that his handle used 30% of the Twitter bandwith and they subsequently shut down his account (temporarily, of course).

We also broke Goldfish Live’s website after my in-depth 10 minute interview with the South Africans, which included viewer questions like “What shampoo do you use?” Have you seen their hair? It’s very shiny.

And then, of course, there is this weekend. The finale. The end. It is Swedish House Mafia’s final set EVER as a trio, and we are going to be airing it live. Let’s see if we can make history again- and all come together for this special moment! I will try my best to hold back the tears.

Join me as I host the livestream at http://www.youtube.com/umftv from 4:30pm US Eastern Time on March 22-24, 2013.
